City Bikes
On the Path:
What kind of bike should I ride on the Swamp Rabbit Trail? That's a question we hear a lot, and a hard one to answer for a shop that sells lots of great bikes for greenway cruising: Electra, Norco, Fuji, etc. Our usual answer is that the right bike for you is the one you're comfortable on, since it's the one you'll ride. The right kind of bike, correctly sized and fit to you, will be a pleasure to ride. These are some of the grin-inducing machines we carry:
- Norco: Nicely finished and always equipped a little bit better than you expect for the price, these Canadian bikes are a strong new entry to the local scene. Many models and sizes in stock, including from the women's-specific Forma line.
- Electra: A perennial bike path favorite, Electra's Townie series is breezy, fun, and affordable. Nothing beats their Flat-Foot geometry for stability and comfort—they originated it and they do it better than anyone. We have about a billion Townies in stock, plus selected Cruisers and Ticino models.
- Fuji: The Absolute 3.0 was a Consumer Reports Best Buy last year, and it's only gotten better.
In the City:
Commuting. Transportation cycling. Utility cycling. City riding. There are as many kinds of unconventional cycing as there are good reasons to do it. Stay fit. Save gas. Learn your neighborhood or your town from a refreshing new perspective. It's important to us to enable everybody to make those short trips--or the long ones, for you ambitious types--by bicycle. So whether you want a purpose-built bike that's ready to commute out of the box, or if you'd like help in dusting off an old warhorse and outfitting it as an errand bike, we're here to help.

The Breezer Freedom
In our shop you'll find internal hub drivetrains, efficient generator hubs driving sophisticated German lighting systems, baskets, racks, bags, lights, locks, bells, fat tires and fenders . . . everything you'll need to get mobile. If you just need information, advice, or encouragement, we have that, too.
Here are some of the city bikes we carry:
- Breezer — Joe Breeze is one of the pioneers of mountain biking and mountain bike design. He made a name for himself in the early days of the now-booming sport and has been a trend-setter ever since. A few years ago he made a big decision--to devote his expertise and energy to building a company that was solely based on making great bikes for transportation and practical riding. Breezer's great lineup of bikes was the result. Read the Breezer story. Ride the bikes at TTR.
- Electra — Electra makes cool, body-friendly bikes in a staggering array of configurations and colors. Their foot-forward geometry allows you to ride comfortably and put your feet down while stopped, and their diverse lineup of bikes ensures that you can find one to suit your style. We liked the ride and versatility of their Townie line so much we chose it as our main rental bike. Test ride an Electra--or rent one on the Swamp Rabbit--and discover the possibilities.
- Norco — Venerable Canadian manufacturer Norco offers a stylish, compelling, and affordable line of Urban Performance bikes. We stock the City Glide, Corsa, VFR, XFR, and more . . .
- Dahon — Provides a line of folding bicycles that are stylish and functional. We stock the compact 20-inch wheeled versions and the full-size 26" models like the Jack. These are great if space is at a premium at home or at the office, or if you're just looking for something different and very, very cool.
- Surly — Surly makes bikes and frames for all different uses: 'cross, road, track, touring, 26 or 29er MTB, whatever. What they all have in common—in addition to awesomeness—is CroMo frames, versatility (braze-ons and bosses for racks, fenders and all different brakes) and the ability to use fat tires. They make a great platform for a city bike or a commuter.
Other lines that we sell, like Fuji and RANS, also feature some compelling and noteworthy city bikes.
